Elissa Jarvis, PsyD, CCTP

Are you looking for a safe place to heal from life’s stressors and become more like the person God created you to be? As a licensed clinical psychologist and certified clinical trauma professional, my goal is to meet you where you are and foster hope in your capacity to heal and thrive.

I am passionate about providing culturally sensitive services with individuals who often fall through the cracks of mental health care. I also strive to provide counseling services that are based in both biblical principles and scientific evidence.

I specialize in working with adults who are dealing with depression, anxiety, and the aftereffects of relational trauma. I tend to use an integrative approach to treatment that draws heavily from the models of Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

From my experience, I find that emotional wounds heal most effectively when certain key factors are present:

  1. A safe space to be honest and vulnerable, without fear of judgment.

  2. A corrective and healthy therapeutic relationship.

  3. A holistic treatment approach that incorporates body, mind, and spirit.

  4. An opportunity to experience new skills during the therapy session, rather than just talking about them.

  5. A willingness to keep doing the hard work outside of sessions.

I graduated from Regent University in 2018, and I have been licensed in the state of Virginia since 2019. I have authority to practice interjurisdictional psychology, as granted by the PSYPACT Commission.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two daughters, going for nature walks, reading nonfiction, and actively participating in church ministry through discipleship, leadership support, and piano playing. I serve alongside my husband, who pastors a congregation that is affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church International.

Kara Harrison, MA

As a Resident in Counseling in Virginia, I am deeply committed to supporting individuals by integrating clinical tools with the timeless wisdom of the Word of God. My passion is to help others navigate life’s challenges with strength, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose.

I began my career in the mental health field in 2021, gaining valuable experience in diverse clinical settings such as community nonprofits and private practice. I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals, including young adults, military members, and children. My work spans various modalities, including individual therapy, couples therapy, and crisis management, allowing me to provide holistic care tailored to each person’s needs.

Holding a Bachelor’s in Social Work from Union University and a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, I am dedicated to offering a well-rounded approach rooted in Biblical principles and a systems perspective. I believe in empowering individuals to tap into their personal strengths while aligning their mental health journey with God’s purpose for their lives.

Grounded in cognitive-behavioral frameworks, my therapeutic approach encourages clients to explore and process their thoughts and emotions. I work together with clients to uncover new behavioral techniques that help them build resilience and thrive. My goal is to support individuals in overcoming life’s obstacles and living abundantly, as reflected in Revelation 12:11 and John 10:10.

On a personal note, I cherish time spent with my husband, daughter, and our puppy, Flynn Ryder—yes, we’re Disney fans! My husband and I are both licensed ministers with the United Pentecostal Church International, where we serve as youth leaders in our local church. Originally from Tennessee (Go Vols!), I moved to Virginia due to my husband’s Navy assignment, and you’ll likely find me with a coffee in hand wherever I go.

I provide telehealth services anywhere in the state of Virginia. I currently accept self-pay only, and my rate is $100 per session. My supervisor is Ashley Tennyson, LPC, and she can be reached at (804) 384-9591.
